| personal info: | This year has seen Century Resources invest into a US$1 billion residential project in Kunming, and start to diversify to hotels and shopping malls, the latter led by its October opening of Asia’s largest shopping mall. On leaving school at 15, Huang started out doing odd jobs until the age of 36, when he set off for the Philippines to set up his own business. Using Hong Kong as a base, Huang started investing with several overseas Chinese friends into Singapore, Malaysia and Spain until 1991 when he returned to his home province. In 1999, Golden Resources surprised the Beijing real estate industry with the announcement of a massive 3.7 million square meter residential development. Huang came top of our 2004 China Philanthropy List with donations last year of US$25 million. |
