| personal info: | Soaring on the back of China’s car boom, Wanxiang has been consolidating its position as China’s leading car parts business, whilst continuing to develop its financial services with the investment into a local commercial bank and the acquisition of two minor listed companies. This year has also seen Lu and his son, Lu Weiding, restructure the shareholding of the former town and village enterprise. With sales last year of US$1.83 billion (2002: US$1.42 billion), Wanxiang has 12,000 employees. One of the most respected of China’s first generation of business leaders, Lu has overseen the growth of Wanxiang from a small workshop to one of China's largest private businesses. Lu is a delegate to the National People’s Congress for a second term. |
