Entrepreneurs Summit brought together 150 of China's business leaders with a
heavy-hitting UK business

delegation.The keynote address was given by Tony Blair,UK Prime
Minister, on
‘UK and China: Looking to the Future', who also took time to spend half
an hour in private discussion with eight of China's leading entrepreneurs to
hear about what the UK government could do to attract more Chinese investment. |

During the course of the summit, our 42 distinguished panelists
investigated and discussed the key topics relating to China's private sector,
before the arrival of the British business delegation in the afternoon. Liu Ji,
CEIBS Executive President, Xie Guomin, CP Group chairman, Cheng Lu, All China
Federation of Industry and Commerce Deputy chairman, Wu Ying, UTStarcom China
President and Victor Chu, First Eastern Investment Group chairmanopened the
summit with a discussion of the state of the private sector today, |

analyzing to what extent it is fuelling
growth and going global.That capital markets play a crucial part to the future
of entrepreneurs in China is in no question. Fang Xinghai, deputy chairman of
the Shanghai stock exchange, led a panel that included Wang Chuanfu, BYD
chairman, Zan Shengda, Zongyi chairman and Chauncey Shey, Softbank China
president.

Branding and the growth in power of China's media
proved a popular session, led by the veteran journalist, Fang Xiangming, and
including Zong Qinghou, Wahaha chairman and Zhang Yonggang, FIRS chairman.
Other topics discussed included whether real estate is the best way forward for
private capital, IT after SARS, professional management versus family
businesses, privitisation of state-owned industries, corporate governance and
the pressure on margins brought upon by the ‘Made in China' concept.

Mike O'Brien, UK Minister for International Trade, Investment and
Foreign Affairs, gave a speech on ‘WTO and Free Trade', a hugely topical issue to China
today, before taking questions along with the British business delegation that
included Lord Powell, chairman of CBBC, Dr. Brian Sanderson, chairman of
Standard Chartered, Dr Russell Grieg, chairman of GlaxoSmithKline, Sir John
Rose, chairman of Rolls Royce and Lord Sterling, chairman of P&O, amongst
others.

The summit provided delegates with the perfect
opportunity to network amongst each other in an informal atmosphere. We rounded
the day off with cocktails, allowing the heavy-hitting British business leaders
to meet with their Chinese counterparts.
