Best Things in Life
The Best Things in Life series is a celebration of lifestyle, designed as an education platform of the finer things in life. Since April 2004, the Best Things in Life has raised US$245,000 for local charities.

On April 3, Euromoney China hosted the Best Things in Life charity event at the Shanghai Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel. During the evening, Christies chaired a charity auction raising US$65,000, which Euromoney China donated to a Shanghai Charity Foundation program to help 210 students from low-income families through university education. Chen Tiedi, chairperson of the Shanghai Charity Foundation, and Yu Huiwen, deputy chairperson, accepted the donations on behalf of Shanghai Charity Fund.

In addition to the charity auction, the evening's entertainment was unforgettable. Guests enjoyed a performance on a rare 18th century Stradivarius violin by Huang Mengla, winner of the 2002 Genova Paganini competition. To keep the night bubbling, Cyril Brun, Veuve Cliquot winemaker, provided an introduction to the world of champagne.

Chairperson Chen sang high praises for Euromoney China – to its dedication to the development of China businesses and its encouragement of entrepreneurship. Yuan Cai, deputy chairman of the SCF, introduced some of the new guidelines for charity in China, including the new tax advantages for charitable donations in Shanghai.

Successful winners of the charity auction items included Dai Zhikang, chairman of Zendai Group; Stella Kong, senior VP of ABN AMRO Shanghai; Zhang Rongkun, chairman of Fuxi Investments; Huang Qiaoling, chairman of Song Dynasty Group; Chauncey Shey, president of Softbank China; Neil Shen, president of Ctrip; and Traugott Kaminski, CEO of Sunseeker China.
