Park Hyatt Zurich .
Best for: romance, style, to be seen
Just a year old this is by far the most impressive hotel in central Zurich , the space and design of the imposing lobby oozes style and luxury. Located in the financial district, don't mistake this hotel for typical business fare. Equipped with the latest technology for business travellers and ergonomically design work area in each room - yet the hotel has also justifiably been awarded as one of the most romantic hotels in Europe . Even the standard rooms are beautifully laid out, and amongst the largest of any European hotel I have stayed in, closer in feel to a junior suite. All are sumptuously designed yet tastefully understated. Service is impeccable, with staff seeming genuinely proud to be working at here. This is one of Zurich 's top hotels to be seen in and the trendy ONYX bar is packed most nights with Zurich rich and glamorous. The city's beautiful old town is also just a 10 minute walk away.
La Reserve, Geneva .
Best for: relaxation, style
Designed in the style of on African game reserve, this hotel exudes laid back luxury. Slightly out of Geneva 's city centre it is perfect for relaxation and is definitely in the running to become one of Europe 's best spas, but being less than a year old it is still developing its reputation. The hotel is based on the shores of Lake Geneva and has a private boat for transporting guests into the city centre. The Hotel also has a Chinese restaurant offering classics like drunken chicken and is reputed to be the best in Geneva , unfortunately the menu is only available in English or French. The hotel often hosts corporate hospitality events around major boating events, which guests are able to benefit from. I was lucky enough to be able to participate in a pro-am sailing race across Lake Geneva .
President Wilson, Geneva .
Best for: business travellers
Based on the edge of Lake Geneva, 65 per cent of the rooms have excellent views over the lake and Mont Blanc . The décor combines classical marble and wood with contemporary art, the service is professional and efficient and there is a lovely outdoor pool overlooking the lake. The President Wilson is also one of the few hotels that I have visited with Chinese-speaking front-of-house staff, Allan at the concierge desk is happy to recommend the best Chinese restaurants in town. The hotel's Presidential Penthouse also claim's to rival Rome 's La Cupola for the title of Europe's largest and most expensive suite, and has been occupied former US president Bill Clinton and popstar Michael Jackson.
